Jun 9, 2021 · I am a Part 107 holder, but at this time, for many reasons I fly recreationally 90+% of the time and stick to the recreationally rules when doing so. The way I see it, as I have State Farm insurance too, I acknowledge that they only cover recreational flight. So were I to have a crash flying recreationally I would have no issue filing a claim.

Oct 31, 2022 · State Farm explained to me a couple years back that they DO NOT cover any drones used commercially. Only recreational use. I asked "Well what if I use it commercially and already have insurance for that, but want to fly recreationally sometimes, that is when I want the State Farm coverage.

Dec 15, 2019 · In the US I believe State Farm cover is the most common outside DJI Care Refresh, and it is usually the minimum charge of US$60 in most states there. (US$2.75/$100 cover, min $30 or $60 depending on state of residence.)

Jul 20, 2021 · The DJI is fine, but as cheap as State Farm typically is; no reason to spend more for insurance than you have to and DJI is usually more. I never used my "Refresh" I had on my Air2 - but had it before finding State Farm and a few others had drone insurance. Sadly, my carrier - USAA - does not offer it and won't cover under homeowners / etc.

Jul 26, 2023 · But I think elsewhere, people have said that there is specific drone policy offered by State Farm in some states. I would have been interested but apparently State Farm doesn't offer it in California or some other states. Again, you have to make sure that any coverage would be worldwide, not just the US.

Aug 11, 2019 · FYI, State Farm told me they wouldn’t insure drones used “ever” for commercial purposes. If you’re a 107 pilot and the drone is registered for that use, State Farm won’t cover any loss, even when using it recreationally.

Jun 3, 2023 · I'd say, if you fly over country where a crash might make recovery difficult or nearly impossible, or if you fly over bodies of water that are deep, definitely get Care Refresh. And if you have several drones, including any expensive ones, you might want to investigate a blanket policy or homeowner's extension from a company like State Farm

Sep 22, 2022 · I would contact State Farm and see if they don't offer a policy just for your drone. Its called a Personal Article Policy and could cover just about anything. In this case, your drone. They do here in Savannah, and it covers anything.
