Mikey Madison is having her breakout year. The actor earned her first Oscar nomination playing the titular character in Sean Baker's movie "Anora," also up for best picture. In the lead-up to the Oscars on March 2, she won the BAFTA for lead actress. Madison thanked director Baker, her co-stars and her mom in her speech.

Mikey Madison’s portrayal of Ani in the Oscar-nominated film “Anora” is being called a “tour de force.” On Sunday, she took home the BAFTA for Best Actress for her portrayal of Ani, a sex worker who believes she found her fairytale after a high-rolling Russian oligarch sweeps her off her feet.

Also Oscar nominated is her Anora costar Yura Borisov, who also earned his first nod for Best Supporting Actor. The film, which recently picked up momentum with wins at the Director's Guild and Producers Guild award shows, received six Academy Award nominations, including Best Director and Best Picture.
