Prosecutors stated in court on Tuesday that two experts who testified were hired by the FBI and also sent Karen Read's defense a bill for nearly $24,000.

After hearing allegations that Read's lawyers concealed a financial arrangement with expert witnesses, the judge warned of "profound effects on this defense and defense counsel.”
