Jimmy Johnson has been a staple of FOX's NFL coverage for nearly three decades, but the iconic coach has announced that he is retiring from the network.

There isn’t an A+ name out there at the moment to replace Johnson. But with the possibility Rodgers becoming available in a year or two, the plan for Fox to plug in a stopgap to replace Johnson, and possibly Bradshaw, would make the most sense for now.

Johnson, who said he had been thinking about retiring for four or five years, worked alongside Curt Menefee and Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long and Michael Strahan.
