Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost lunar lander has beamed home stunning views of the moon from an altitude of just 62 miles (100 kilometers).

Firefly Aerospace, a Texas-based private aerospace company, released video from the Blue Ghost spacecraft orbiting the moon. Since entering the moon's orbit on 13 February, the lunar lander has been preparing for its landing by lowering its orbit. It will attempt to make a descent on the lunar surface on 2 March.

The Blue Ghost lunar lander has captured a striking up-close view of Earth's cosmic neighbor as it prepares in the days ahead to land on the moon.

Blue Ghost is aiming to become the second private lander to successfully soft-land on the moon, just over a year after Intuitive Machines' Odysseus lander. If all goes well, the solar-powered spacecraft will operate on the surface of the moon for one lunar day, or about 14 Earth days, with lunar sunset expected to bring an end to the mission.
