Emilia Pérez' star Karla Sofía Gascón not on BAFTA Film Awards attendees list after her racially insensitive X/Twitter posts were uncovered.

Journalist Sara Hagi discovered Gascón’s history of racist, Islamophobic and antisemitic posts on Thursday, days after Gascón became the first openly trans person to be nominated for a Best Actress Oscar. While some of the since-deleted posts dated to 2016, she’d made others as recently as 2023.

As the star of Emilia Pérez, a film nominated for 13 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Gascón's past tweets have become a central topic of conversation during the awards season.
