Strong to severe storms will continue to be possible across Alabama tonight, according to the National Weather Service. NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has maintained a Level 3 out of 5 -- or enhanced -- risk for parts of south and west Alabama.

Residents should be aware that the threats are “damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, a couple of tornadoes, isolated flash flooding, and minor flooding of low-lying in poor drainage areas,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.

"Waves" of heavy to moderate rain will sweep through Alabama mid-week with some areas getting up to five to six inches for the period, raising concerns of possible flash flooding, weather forecasts are predicting.

The Storm Prediction Center as added an enhanced risk for severe weather for part of west Alabama for Saturday in its latest forecast update. The rest of the state has a Level 2 risk. The weather service said tornadoes, damaging winds and heavy rain will again be possible. The additional rain could also increase concerns about flooding.
