A hamstring tear has forced out fast bowler Ben Sears from this month's Champions Trophy, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) said on Friday, while all-rounder Rachin Ravindra has eased back into training after being struck in the face by the ball in a fielding mishap.

New Zealand fast bowler Ben Sears has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy tournament in Pakistan with a hamstring tear. Sears suffered the injury in training in Karachi on Wednesday. Scan results have shown a minor tear which would keep Sears out of action for two weeks.

Ben Sears has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy with a hamstring injury. Sears, who was also part of New Zealand's squad for the tri-series in Pakistan, felt pain in his left hamstring at the team's training session in Karachi on Wednesday.

New Zealand have comfortably been the team of the tournament so far, but Pakistan arguably come in on a bigger high, riding a wave after coming back from the dead to steal the second place on the table after an epic ODI chase against South Africa.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat against New Zealand in the tri-nation series final on Friday in a dress rehearsal for both teams ahead of next week’s opening game of the Champions Trophy. Pakistan eliminated South Africa from the final with its epic run-chase of 355-4 at the same venue on Wednesday with captain Mohammad Rizwan and vice-captain Salman Ali Agha scoring centuries.
