PSV Eindhoven have signed former Arsenal striker Lucas Perez until the end of the season, the Dutch club said on Sunday, just over a week before they host the London club in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie.

Holding a 2-1 lead from the first leg, Juventus gave PSV all the impetus they needed to win the tie and end their Champions League campaign.

Lucas Perez has joined Arsenal ’s Champions League round of 16 opponents PSV Eindhoven on a free transfer. The former Arsenal striker had been a free agent for a short amount of time after seeing his contract with boyhood club Deportivo La Coruna terminated for personal reasons in January.

Defender Ryan Flamingo scored an extra-time winner to give PSV Eindhoven a 3-1 home win on Wednesday in the second leg of their Champions League knockout phase playoff against Juventus, overturning a first-leg deficit and putting them into the last 16.

Arsenal are set to face PSV in the next round of the Champions League as they aim to reach the quarter-finals of the competition in consecutive seasons.

Arsenal are set to travel to PSV Eindhoven next week to face the Dutch side in the Champions League, to decide who will advance to the quarter-final stage. The two-legged affair will kick off at Philips Stadion on Tuesday 4 March,
