Ajit Agarkar held an emergency meeting with captain Rohit Sharma and coach Gautam Gambhir in Ahmedabad to decide Jasprit Bumrah's Champions Trophy fate.

Bumrah was not selected for India's 15-member squad for the marquee event. Harshit Rana was named as his replacement by the Men in Blue on Tuesday.

A report claims that NCA had declared Bumrah fit, but chief selector Ajit Agarkar did not want to take the risk on injuring him once again.

The NCA, which oversees the rehabilitation of injured players, had reportedly given Bumrah a clean bill of health, declaring him “medically fit.”

The BCCI issued a statement, saying, "Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy due to a lower back injury. The Men's Selection Committee has named Harshit Rana as Bumrah's replacement."

The National Cricket Academy's team has deferred Jasprit Bumrah's selection decision for the Champions Trophy to the Ajit Agarkar-led committee. Although medically fit after rehabilitation, concerns exist over Bumrah's readiness to bowl.

A top BCCI official confirmed that Bumrah's scan reports were okay but NCA left the final decision on Agarkar as Bumrah wasn't tested in a match situation.
